This Privacy Policy explains how LicenseDesktop ("we", "us", or the software project published at chengyoung.com) handles information when you use our website and software. We are an independent developer project and keep data collection to a minimum.

1. Information we collect

• Order email address — provided by you when purchasing a license, used to deliver your activation code and receipts.
• Machine code — a device identifier generated by the software, used only to bind an activation code to a machine (license activation).
• Optional diagnostics — version/build info you may choose to share when contacting support.

We do not collect payment card numbers, bank details, or other financial information. Payments are processed entirely by our payment provider (see below).

2. Third-party services

• Creem (Merchant of Record) — processes payments, collects applicable VAT/GST/sales tax, and handles checkout. Creem's handling of your data is governed by their own privacy policy.
• GitHub — hosts this website (GitHub Pages) and software releases (GitHub Releases). GitHub's terms apply to those services.
• Cloud services — optional update/backup features may use cloud storage; these are limited to software update metadata and encrypted backups you explicitly enable.

3. How we use information

• Deliver activation codes and provide license verification.
• Provide customer support and respond to your requests.
• Comply with legal obligations (e.g. tax records).

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Data retention & security

We retain order records only as long as needed for licensing, support and legal/tax compliance. Access to license-signing keys is protected and signing happens on your own machine. No license keys are sent to our servers.

5. Your choices

You may contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal information we hold about you, subject to applicable law and our record-keeping obligations.
